As AI-generated content becomes increasingly commonplace, we at Lake continue to stand by what we've believed from the very beginning: art that deserves to be seen starts with people.
The essence of what Lake is and represents is the pursuit of celebrating and nurturing human creativity. That's why you'll never see AI-generated art in Lake. Instead, you'll discover the work of over 150 artists from all over the world, brought together in coloring books filled with pages that ignite curiosity, bring joy, and invite you to take a moment to unwind and appreciate the simple joys in life.
Behind every single coloring book in the app is a person who sat down, picked up a tool, and created something from their imagination, their experience, their heart, their story, their dreams, and their uniquely human mind.

When you color one of the drawings, you're spending time with someone's art. You're adding your own colors, your own choices, and your own mood to something another person created. And it is this exact connection—this human exchange—that feels more important than ever.
"Lake is a quiet space where millions of people come to unwind every day, but also to reconnect with themselves in a mindful, almost meditative way. Knowing you're coloring something that wasn't made by AI makes that connection even stronger and more genuine."
Anja Renko, Co-founder
In 2017, we set out to create a coloring app where every piece of artwork would be hand-drawn. Fast forward to today, and we have over 2,000 drawings by artists from all over the world.
It's important to give credit where credit is due, but beyond that, we also share a portion of our revenue with the artists. More specifically, a portion of every subscription goes directly to the artist whose work you color. We're proud to say that, to date, we've shared more than half a million euros with real artists.
"The money received from the revenues gave me the possibility to relax and focus on what I wanted instead of what I felt I needed to do. I know for a fact that without collaborating with Lake, I wouldn't have been able to keep freelancing as I did in my first 2 years as a migrant, and that's huge. Seeing people coloring my work regardless of gender, sharing all of them and telling me that it gave them some sort of strength or inspiration in their lives is a treasure for me.”

Human creativity deserves to be celebrated.
But now, more than ever, we should all do as much as possible to preserve it, support it, and help it continue to thrive.
